31 Mar Weekend Roundup 30-31 March 2019
So here we are, clocks gone forward, summer around the corner…err, actually no, it was flipping freezing down on the Barrage today, spectating at the Cardiff Bay 10k. This was a P&D Club Championship race, and not surprisingly had a large contingent of Blue and Yellow…..and lots of support teams too. We had the Morton/Clark family up near the finish, the “Flag Girls” halfway along the Barrage, and the “ahem” more mature brethren gathered at the turnaround point…..
The “sharp end” was looking particularly frisky, and gave Ben Butler-Madden another opportunity to shave a few seconds off his PB, recording 33:17 for a well-up 38th place and just missing the M35+ podium (4th). He was followed in by Gary Brown, who admits to being a bit focussed on marathon prep at the moment, but still managed an impressive 35:25 for 74th (15th M35+)
Other impressive performances came from Andy Pearce 5th in M50+ (38:40), Ruth Cann 9th in W35+ (44:41), Terry McCarthy 9th in M60+ (45:51) and Bev Warburton 9th in W55+ (52:44).
Full results here, but I’ve extracted most of the times and stuff to save you the bother!

There were some interesting parkrun performances on Saturday. Great running by Nathan Christoforato over at Grangemoor…Nathan has been completely focussed on preparing for his marathon debut at Manchester next weekend, and has had to contend with a few injury niggles along the way. He had a great confidence-booster of a run, 2nd finisher in a massive new PB time of 17:55. Best of luck for next week Nath!
