Please come along and try us out for two sessions – and then decide if you want to join us. New members are always given a warm welcome.
We are a fun and enthusiastic adult running group of all abilities based in Penarth. Our main club night is Monday from 19:00 to 20:00 and we run a variety of sessions around Penarth including the Promenade, the Marina, Cardiff Barrage and around town, typically involving hill repetitions and flat speed work sessions. There’s something to suit everybody and you can run at your own pace, although we do recommend that you are able to run for about 30 minutes non-stop or at an 11-minute mile pace. This is so you are able to keep up during the short jog over to where our sessions take place. So whether you’re looking to improve your fitness and enjoy running with others, or you’re chasing a personal best time at the Cardiff Half Marathon, you can do it with us.
Other club sessions which take place include an hour-long “conversational pace run” on Wednesday at 19:00, which, as the name suggests, is an opportunity to have a chat with some gentle running thrown in. Usually this is a meandering route made up on the night taking in parts of Cardiff and Penarth and in the summer, involves a more scenic route across fields and forests. Alternatively if you feel like a challenge, track sessions at Cardiff International Sports Stadium in Leckwith also take place on Wednesdays, and again these can be as hard or as easy as you want to make them. On Thursdays a slightly more challenging session to the Monday run often takes place, again involving hills. So whatever kind of running you like, you’ll find something to enjoy at Penarth and Dinas Runners.
In the autumn, winter and spring we are based at Penarth Leisure Centre in Cogan. From mid-May until late August we meet at Cosmeston Country Park on Lavernock Road, Penarth, in order to enjoy the beautiful countryside.
Unfortunately we can’t accommodate children at the moment and those 16-18 aspiring individuals do need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
