03 Sep Roman Run Review 03/09/2016

Race Review from our very own Chair Yvonne

The 2016 Roman Run was the wettest of the four that I have done. The run up the mountain was through a river running down the mountain. Both of those statements being incorrect, I was definitely not running up and it was a stream coming down. But you get the picture. Lovely company went some of the way to making it a great day. We started the footwear discussion, trail or road? Road. Despite wearing shoes that afforded the protection of a pair of ballet shoes Richard achieved a time most of the rest of us would be happy with. 2:01. Chris Herdman made the last bus up the mountain (you get buses from Cyfarthfa Castle to Brecon to the start). Think he left house about an hour after the rest of us. But he certainly speeded up to finish the race in a respectable 2:23. Ruth and Malcolm ran over the finish line together in 2:41. Malcolm still recovering from his tough Half Ironman and Ruth from her Hen Night. Me, well I made it. Was over 10mins slower than last year in 2:51. Happy with that as most of the people I spoke to were at least 10 mins slower than last year. One for all to try as views can be amazing, sadly not today. Yvonne
