Lliswerry 8 mile road race – **Entries open 1/12/19**

Distance & Location: 8 miles, Lliswerry

Description: The flattest race on the planet! A fast race along the country lanes of Lliswerry in Newport. The route is one mile out, a six mile loop, and one mile back. There are only four junctions and the whole course is manned by marshals.

Ponty Reverse 10 – filling up quickly!

Date: 2nd February 2020 (Sunday), 10am

Distance & Location: 10 miles, start/finish Caerphilly

Description: A rather challenging 10 mile race that covers both tarmac and trail paths. The race, named the ‘Reverse’ as the mile markers count down backwards, is undulating with a fairly tough hill at around five miles.

Cardiff Trail Half Marathon 

Date: 22nd March 2020 (Sunday), 8.45am **TBC

Distance & Location: 13.1 miles, Taff Trail out and back from Cardiff City centre

Entry Fee: Affiliated £10, Unaffiliated £12 **TBC


Description: This was a pilot event in 2018 and went ‘live’ in 2019. The course uses Pontcanna Fields and Bute Park before heading north along the Taff Trail to Tongwynlais, where you turn and head for home. The course is run on tarmac paths except for one short stretch of compacted path.

Cardiff Bay 10k road race

Date: 29th March 2020 (Sunday), 11am

Description: Set in the heart of Cardiff’s historic Bay, the Cardiff Bay Run is a flat, fast and friendly event for all ages and abilities. The popular spring-time race, which attracts some of the UK’s top athletes, boasts a stunning 10km course around Cardiff Bay. In 2019, the race will incorporate the Welsh 10 Kilometre Championships. The route takes in all of Cardiff Bay’s most iconic landmarks, starting and finishing in Roald Dahl Plass and passing the Wales Millennium Centre, Mermaid Quay, the Pierhead Building, Senedd, Porth Teigr and the Cardiff Bay Barrage.

Whitchurch 5k road race

Description: This is the 5th annual running of the Cardiff 5K in Whitchurch Village, a leafy suburb of Cardiff, on the evening of Saturday 9th May 2020. The 2020 race will incorporate the Welsh 5km Road Running Championships, which will be timed and official results will be posted.

Rose Inn 4 mile road race

Description: Based at the Redwick Village Hall, near the Rose Inn pub, Redwick, this is a fast, flat 4 mile road race series, which takes place on Tuesday summer evenings (May, June, July and August).

Swansea Half Marathon

Description: The JCP Swansea Half Marathon offers runners the chance for a perfect PB on the flat, fast, scenic 13.1 route. Starting outside the iconic Brangwyn Hall before hitting the beautiful vista of Swansea Bay and enjoying some of the most breathtaking views of any half marathon.


Porthcawl 10k road race

Date: 5th July 2020 (Sunday), 10am

Description: The Porthcawl 10K is an exciting addition to the town known for its surf, sports and coastal walks. A summertime hotspot for both locals and visitors – Porthcawl is renowned for shining under the sun. The all-new race will take place on closed-roads, taking in a number of landmarks and stunning seaside spots including Rest Bay, Trecco Bay, Coney Bay, the picturesque town centre, historic Grand Pavillion and the iconic Porthcawl Lighthouse.


SSAFA 5k (incorporating Regional Champs)

Barry Island 10k road race

Description: Sun, sea, and sand provide the backdrop to the Barry Island 10K – which brings a summertime festival of running to the popular seaside resort with a 10K race and family fun run. A firm favourite with runners – renowned for it’s varied and scenic route, unbeatable crowd support and feel-good atmosphere. The 10K race takes place on fully closed roads with a challenging yet rewarding route showcasing all of the town’s most scenic seaside spots and recognisable landmarks – including Whitmore Bay, the Knap, Romilly Park and Watch House Bay.

Cardiff Half Marathon

Description: The 2020 race will take place on Sunday 4th October. Entries are now open. All 5,000 early bird entries sold out in less than four hours! The race is now on to secure a space for 2020, which is expected to sell out at record pace. Now a part of the SuperHalfs, the event is seeing record interest from international participants from all over the world, looking to complete the new series of races in Lisbon, Prague, Copenhagen, Cardiff and Valencia.

We encourage runners keen to run in 2020 to act fast and enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Rabbit Run

Description: Starting and finishing in the private Merthyr Mawr estate this 7.2 mile race has a spectacular route involving the Big Dipper sand dune, Ogmore Castle and a river crossing.

Description: The course is approximately 6 miles with the first 3 miles uphill until the water station at halfway, then it’s downhill to the finish, which includes one steep downhill rocky descent.

Llantwit Major 10k

Date: 24th August 2019 (Saturday)

Distance & Location: 10 km, Llantwit Major

Description: Starting near the centre of the historic town of Llantwit Major the route includes a very fast downhill start which takes competitors off tarmac within 1500 meters when they leave the road and enter the nature reserve. The course remains off road for the majority of the distance, through ancient woodland, public footpaths and farm lanes, taking in the Glamorgan Heritage Coast from Castle Ditches to Summerhouse Point with stunning cliff top views across the Bristol Channel to Somerset, Devon, and inland across the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan.

Description: 16 mile run trail and road from Brecon to Merthyr over the Roman Road. Climbing from 500ft. to 1,600ft. above sea level near Cribin in the Brecon Beacons before returning to tarmacked roads at the Neuadd Reservoir.

Cottrell Park Christmas Cracker 10K
