PB’s all round for Lliswerry 8 on 28th January (new course!). 25 members completed the ‘flattest race on the planet’, the first race of the 2018 Championship.
Ben Butler-Madden led the team home in a tactical race with a steady start then reeled runners in to finish in a fantastic 9th place out of a strong field of 792 finishers in 43.52 mins pb. Nathan Christoforato proved he is going to be an asset to club in his debut race wearing P&D vest next to finish in 54th in 50.04 pb. Most improver Male winner for 2017 proved he is still improving with a great time of 52.55, a 3 minute pb! First Lady from club, and 2nd in age category, by a whisker, was Lisa Cleary 57.29pb very closely followed by Ruth Cann 57.32pb. Kit Lambert was next in 58.39 followed by Age Category winner Malcolm Bradley in 58.33. Mark Taylor, (who will never forget his chip again!) had a good run to finish in 59.55. Louise Hunt just missed out on finishing under the hour in 1.00.20, closely followed by Chris Seal in 1.00.34 after a very speedy start! Bethan Apglyn, with marathon training going well very close behind in 1.00.43pb. Josh Davies 1.01.17 had a strong run with Gareth Davies 1.02.13 and Paul Mitchell 1.03.44 within eye contact. Beverley Warburton was 3rd in her age category in 1.05.50pb.Danielle Rayner getting back to fitness, 1.08.15 had Tim Monckton breathing down her neck to finish in 1.08.35. Sarah Patnett 1.09.11, Mandy Barrington1.09.59, Shirley Dawn Howman 1.10.29 and Nigel A Adams 1.10.54 had good runs to finish around half way through the field. 2nd in age category was Yvonne Williams in 1.11.28 who pipped Paul Whitmarsh at the post in 1.11.29! Cameron Large 1.12.14 in position 507 brought the P&D team in with 285 finishers behind him.
All finishers were rewarded with a lovely long sleeved, technical t-shirt in P&D fabulous blue and yellow!!!
