Club Membership – Application, Payment and Kit

Club Membership

Club membership runs from April to April each year and costs either £25 or £42.50, depending on whether you want to register with Welsh Athletics. Fees are due by April 1st each year.

Club membership is £25. For this, you get:

  • The opportunity to run regularly with like-minded runners
  • Advice from experienced runners on how to start running, how to avoid injury, how to improve, good routes to run, etc.
  • Coaching on specific running skills
  • Motivation and enjoyment from running with other people who love running
  • Insurance cover when participating in club-organised activities
  • The friendship and camaraderie of fellow runners – on road, off road or at our wide range of social activities. These often involve cake.

Registration with Welsh Athletics is £17.50, optional, and offers a range of member benefits including:

  • £2 discount on entry fees for a number of licenced races
  • £10 off the entry fee for the Cardiff Half Marathon
  • 10% discount at some specialist local running shops
  • Other discounts on items such as training programmes and UK Athletics events

Welsh Athletics registration is also necessary to take part in certain competitions (such as the Gwent Cross-Country League) and in Welsh Athletics championship races (such as national and regional championships events).

You cannot register with Welsh Athletics as an individual unless you’re also a member of an affiliated club. Penarth and Dinas Runners is affiliated to Welsh Athletics.

Membership Application Form

When applying for or renewing your membership, you must complete the on-line 2017-18 Membership Application Form, indicating whether you want to register with Welsh Athletics and how you intend to pay.

Please also remember to update Danielle if there are any changes in your details during the year.

Membership Payments

You can pay by bank transfer, cheque or cash. A bank transfer is the preferred method.

If you’re paying by bank transfer directly into the Club’s bank account, the information you’ll need is:

  • Bank: Santander
  • Sort Code: 09 01 54
  • Account Name: Penarth and Dinas Runners
  • Account Number: 17131003

Note: It’s particularly important to provide all the information requested so that the Treasurer can accurately identify the payment when it reaches the Club’s account.

If you’re paying by cheque or cash, pass on your payment to Danielle Rayner or Lyn Evans (Treasurer).

  • Please make cheques payable to ‘Penarth and Dinas Runners’.

Notes

  • For new members, the Club membership fees reduce each month by £2 depending on when in the year you join (starting from May 1st). Please check with the Membership Secretary or Treasurer if in doubt.

  • All Club membership renewals are £25 – whenever you renew during the year.

Social Membership

Social membership (£5.00 per year) is available to former Club members who wish to stay in touch with the Club, its members and activities.

Social members can join the Club’s email distribution list and members’ Facebook group (both are for club members only) and attend Club social events.

To be eligible for social membership, applicants will have had to have been a full member of the club for at least a year previously. When applying for or renewing your social membership, you must complete the on-line 2017-18 Social Membership Application Form.

Insurance for Club Members

Club membership includes personal accident insurance for members.

  • It provides cover for members when taking part in club-organised activities such as training sessions and group training runs and in other licensed races.
  • It does not cover members running alone or in impromptu running groups or walking groups.

Club members and officers are also covered against public liability claims whist taking part in club activities via the Club’s affiliation to Welsh Athletics.
