New CF64 Winter Race

01 Nov New CF64 Winter Race

Penarth and Dinas Runners are delighted to announce the launch of a new race for the local winter running calendar.  It’s the brand new CF64 Winter Race.

Why CF64?

CF64 is our postcode in Penarth and Dinas Powys,

and…

the race is around Cosmeston Fields (in the Country Park) – location CF64 5UY,

and…

it’s 6.4 miles long (10.2k).

The first ever CF64 Winter race will be held on Sunday, January 21st 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, in Penarth.

As it’s a new venture, we’re aiming to keep things quite small, cheap and cheerful – with a limit of 250 entries and prices set at just £7 (affiliated runners) and £9 (unaffiliated).

There will be trails, mud, woodlands, more mud, hills and some great scenery to enjoy on the twisting course around the park.  Plus the usual excellent level of support from Penarth and Dinas Runners and friends that is a feature of our spring and summer races – the Cadwaladers Porthkerry 5 (May 13th next year) and the Cosmeston Relay Race (11th July 2018).

To keep the cost down and organisation simple for the inaugural event, we’ll be using manual timing and aren’t providing medals, goody bags or t-shirts. There will be water and fruit provided for runners at the finish and a few prizes.

The great new course should be challenging enough for experienced runners, particularly those looking to sharpen their mid-season cross-country speed, but is equally suited to newer runners looking to try out a friendly off-road mixed-terrain race.

Entries (on-line only) will open on Friday November 10th at 6:00 p.m. – watch for further information closer to opening time on our Facebook page and club website.

We hope that the course map will whet your appetite and that you can join us in January, but you can found additional race information here: CF64 Winter Race.
