06 May London Marathon Round up by Lisa Cleary
London Marathon 2017
12 P&D runners had the privilege to wear their blue and yellow vests around the streets of London for the marathon on 23rd April. Conditions were not far off perfect, which resulted in some awesome times and records being set.
Ben Butler-Madden’s training schedule went exactly to plan and was rewarded for all his hard work with not only a PB but a new CLUB RECORD for the marathon distance with a time of 2.38.58. Richard Jackson-Hookins, also showing that his schedule went to plan and no set-backs as in his previous London marathon, with a big PB of 2.43.43 – both achieve Championship starts for next year.
A blanket finish for the next 4 runners …… a minute or so apart!!! The metronome that is Chris Nellins, with usual sponge and bag of jelly babies, had a great run to finish in 3.32.35. Debbie Evans had a fantastic result finishing in around 3.32, her best time in 17 years (unfortunately a malfunction with chip – awaiting confirmation). This will take Deb into 2nd place in club records. Andy Jones, concentrating on triathlon training has to be pleased with his time of 3.33, a great result. With a PB of around 10 minutes and up on the club records too, next was Ruth Cann with a time of
Even though things didn’t quite go to plan for Ian Warburton 3.35 is a great time (like Deb, awaiting chip confirmation) and hopefully things will go well for him in Berlin later this year. Despite lack of training, Lisa Cleary was delighted with her 3.50.22 time.
Andrea Hurman did very well to battle on despite injury and still finish in a very respectable time of 4.07.59. Amazingly Bev Warburton and Louise Hunt finished in exactly the same time of 4.09.44, Louise, also did very well to finish with an ankle injury.
Cameron Large, fulfilling his boyhood dream of running the London Marathon did well to finish in 4.51.46.
Honorary member for the day Ian Beale finished in 7.04 – well done Ian!
Thanks to everyone from P&D for their incredible support for all runners with training runs, advice, encouragement and tracking – just amazing! Thank you P&D 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Tough to find photos so these have been pulled from the Facebook thread. Loving the Ian Beale pic with Lisa!
