The Llantwit Major multi-terrain 10K was the 6th race in the Off Road Championship and there was a good turn out from the club despite the fact there was a Main Club Championship race the following day!

The weather was kind and ideal conditions for racing. The race was everything it promised to be – mainly off road, stunning scenery and tough terrain. Luckily the ground was firm enough that grip wasn’t an issue although the undulating profile proved challenging having to run across fields and negotiate styles (anyone who has been on a Chris Nellins wednesday run would have been well prepared!). On finishing we all got a nice medal and a well earned bottle of water.

The organisation of the race was excellent and the course was well marshalled with friendly and enthusiastic marshals. At the venue there was plenty of food and drink stalls for post race refreshments. There was also entertainment for the young ones with inflatable slides and castles (for a fee).

The results were available immediately from the finish tent if you were that desperate to find out your time. The results can be located here.

P & D times were:

Andy Jones: 19th 43:09

Dave Mathews: 28th 45:51

Cath Tailby: 47th 48:23

Ruth Cann: 77th 51:33

Malcolm Bradley: 80th 51:58

Joanna Hanks: 128th 56:21

Helen Griffiths: 187th 1:03:28

Tania Miranda: 216th 1:07:31

There were 289 finishers.

Special congratulations to Cath who placed 6th lady, 2nd in her category and Joanna who raced for the first time in P & D colours. Here’s hoping it’s the first of many!
