20 Jul Fun at The Rabbit Run – Review from Yvonne
Rabbit and Witches Race
What a ridiculous way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Michelle Hoey, Louise Hunt and Steve Hill ran the 7 mile Rabbit Run, which involved grassy hills plastered with squelchy cows, sheep and rabbit droppings which could not be avoided. Running on through mud up to the ankles which pulled shoes off and took people down. With feet clogged to the ankles in mud it was on to the sand dunes including the biggest sand dune in Europe, aptly named “the big dipper”. A quarter of a mile before the finish line it was through the river, which on the video of the race promotion was ankle to knee high, today it was waist high and welcome, moving on through an underground stone tunnel and stairway to the finish line, unless that is, you had stupidly signed up to do it all again plus another four miles.
So it was on to the 18 mile Witches Matthew Robertson, Tania Miranda and Yvonne Williams approached the finish line they were told to run around a Dragon and sent back up the hill.
It was a great trail race through lovely countryside and along river banks and sea. May not be one for the club championship races, but certainly one for a great day out.
